Datuk Siti Nurhaliza reigned supreme last night, bagging four trophies at the 16th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) awards show.
The awards included the coveted "
Album of the Year", which she won for her pop ethnic album Lentera Timur.
Siti, who is in Mecca performing her umrah, also won best vocal performance in a song (female), best ethnic pop album and best musical arrangement in a song (for Pada Cintanya).
The wins reaffirmed her status as one of the country's top singers.
Pop singer
Misha Omar was recognised for her self-titled third effort. Misha bagged four awards including the prestigious "Song of the Year" for
Nafas Cahaya, composed by
M. Nasir and the late
Loloq.
The haunting tune also earned her the "Pop Ethnic Song Trophy". Her Cinta Adam dan Hawa won best pop song and
Misha Omar best pop album.
Rapper and producer
Malique sprang a sweet surprise winning best local English song for KL Street, "Best Hip Hop" album (OK) and best hip hop song (
Mentera Beradu, the duet featuring
M. Nasir).
Indie bands also received due recognition at the award show and reinforced their popularity in the music scene.
Indie rock band Hujan bagged "Best Rock Song" (for Bila Aku Sudah Tiada) and "Best Rock Album" for its self-titled debut album.

Meet Uncle Hussain was announced "Best New Artiste".
The dazzling awards show saw industry players converge on Dewan Merdeka at the Putra World Trade Centre to celebrate and honour excellence in the music business.
For her achievements in and lifetime contributions to the music industry, lyricist/ film producer Habsah Hassan was awarded the prestigious Anugerah Wirama.
Hosted by Afdlin Shauki, Bob Lokman and Adibah Noor, the 21/2-hour show also featured performances by Datuk Sheila Majid, M. Nasir, Faizal Tahir, Joe Flizzow and Misha.
Nominees, including Nikki Palikat, Ayu of One In A Million (Season 1) and Hujan also performed.
Indonesian songstress Rossa, who won best Malay song performed by foreign artiste for Ayat-ayat Cinta also performed at the show. AIM16 was aired "live" on ntv7 and hot.fm.
